Total Victory for G&R Clients After Six-Day Jury Trial

After a six-day jury trial and two additional days of jury deliberations, G&R Partner Tom Casparian obtained complete victories for a commercial landlord who owned a trophy building on Main Street in Santa Monica and its property manager.  Both had been sued by the former retail tenant under various theories claiming the landlord and property manager were responsible for the tenant’s lost profits and other damages amounting to millions of dollars.

The jury returned defense verdicts in favor of the landlord and property manager on all claims against them.  Additionally, the jury found in favor of the landlord on its cross-claim against the former tenant, awarding the landlord over $200,000 in unpaid rents.

The success on behalf of the landlord and property manager followed last year’s victory in a related case against the same retail tenant which resulted in the tenant’s eviction.

G&R associate Adam Wiley and litigation paralegal Susy Forbath comprised the winning team at trial with Mr. Casparian.
